EXACTLOGGER MANUAL

Your telemetry dashboard for every adventure — on wheels or on foot.

⚠️ SAFETY & LIMITS

ExActLogger is a reference and visualization tool only. Engaging in high-speed or dynamic activities involves inherent risks.

• NEVER INTERACT WITH THE DEVICE DURING ACTIVITIES REQUIRING UNDIVIDED ATTENTION.
• All metrics are estimates derived from consumer mobile sensors. Environmental factors and hardware limitations may affect accuracy.
• This application is NOT a safety system, a certified instrument, or a substitute for professional telemetry hardware.

Getting Started & Setup

ExActLogger is designed to turn your device into a high-detail visualization tool. For the best results, follow these quick setup steps:

1 Permissions: Allow Location access when prompted. This is all the app needs to track your route, speed, altitude, and distance.

2 Select your Mode: Tap the MODE selector on the main screen. Choose VEHICLE for any wheeled activity (car, motorbike, bike), or WALK / RUN for walking and running — this unlocks cadence and pace tracking.

3 Pick your Units: Open ⚙️ Settings and set your preferred unit system — Metric (KM/H, KM, M) or Imperial (MPH, MI, FT). All values across the dashboard update instantly.

STAY AWAKE: The app keeps your screen active while you're moving, so you never miss a moment of live data.

Interface & Controls

🔄 Intelligent Orientation

The dashboard automatically detects if your device is in Landscape or Portrait. Simply rotate your phone and the layout adapts instantly. Use the 🔄 icon to manually override the automatic detection if needed.

🔍 High-Detail Zoom

Want a closer look? Tap any chart to enlarge it. Inspect your performance at every second of your ride with high-resolution clarity.

🎨 Dynamic Map Coloring

Visualize your performance directly on the route. Select COLOR on the map to shade your path by Speed or Altitude — instantly revealing where you pushed hardest or climbed the most.

📐 Units Toggle

Switch between Metric and Imperial at any time from Settings. Speed, distance, altitude, and pace all convert on the fly — no restart needed.

Track Your Performance

🚀

Speed & Distance

Live speed displayed prominently in your chosen unit (KM/H or MPH). Total distance logged throughout your session. Peak speed captured automatically and shown in the summary.

⛰️

Altitude Profile

A continuous elevation chart shows the terrain shape of your entire route. Gain and loss totals are calculated at session end. Altitude is displayed in M or FT based on your unit preference.

🗺️

Route Map

Your GPS track rendered in real time on a detailed map. In Review Mode, zoom and pan to inspect any moment of your journey. Color-code by speed or altitude for instant performance insight.

🚶

Pace & Cadence (WALK / RUN mode)

Switch to WALK / RUN mode to unlock pace (MIN/KM or MIN/MI) and step cadence tracking. Perfect for training runs, hikes, or any foot-powered activity.

Live Delta Timing

Compare your current session against a previous reference run in real time. The delta bar shows whether you're ahead or behind — second by second — matched by GPS position along the route.

Set a Reference

In History, long-press (or use the menu on) any past session and mark it as your Reference. The next time you ride the same route, the live delta activates automatically when the app detects you're on track.

Delta Bar

A persistent bar appears at the top of the live dashboard showing +0.0s (behind) or -0.0s (ahead). The comparison resets if you deviate more than 50 m off-route and resumes when you return.

TIP: Use Live Delta on repeated routes — a commute, a training loop, a favourite mountain road — to benchmark every run against your personal best.

Session Comparison

Select two or more past sessions from History and open them side-by-side in the comparison panel. All sessions are aligned by distance so you can see exactly where one run pulled ahead of another.

How to Open

In History, tick the checkboxes on two or more sessions, then tap Compare. Each session gets its own colour from the legend at the top of the panel.

Speed Overlay

All sessions are plotted on the same speed-vs-distance chart. Hover over any point to see each session's exact speed at that position along the route.

Time Delta Chart

The fastest session is automatically marked as ★ REF. The delta chart shows every other session's time gap — positive (behind) in red, negative (ahead) in green — at each kilometre of the route.

Interactive Tooltip

Move your cursor across any chart to get a live tooltip with all sessions' values at that exact distance point, colour-coded by session.

TIP: Pair Session Comparison with Live Delta — use Comparison to do a deep post-ride analysis of where you gained or lost time, then set the best session as the Live Delta reference for your next run.

Perfect Altitude

GPS altitude can sometimes be unpredictable. ExActLogger gives you professional tools to keep your elevation data accurate:

Custom Calibration

  • SET ZERO: Instantly set your current height as the base level — ideal for starting from a known point.
  • SMART AUTO: Use world-class topographic data (SRTM) to automatically sync your altitude based on your coordinates. Requires a brief internet connection.

Post-Ride Correction

If you notice an error after your ride, you can adjust the altitude offset for any past session in Review Mode. All charts and peak values update instantly to reflect the correction.

Instagrammable Results

📸 Professional Social Posters

Turn your sessions into high-resolution (1080×1080) square renders perfect for Instagram or Facebook. Tap the Share icon in History to generate a custom poster featuring your route, date, and peak performance metrics.

  • Visual Route: Your GPS track rendered over a stylish dark-themed topographic map.
  • Peak Stats: Highlights your top speed, total distance, and altitude gain/loss.
  • Privacy Included: Like all ExActLogger features, posters are rendered locally on your device — nothing leaves your phone.

Personalize Your Experience

Open ⚙️ Settings to fine-tune everything:

  • Mode: Switch between VEHICLE (car, motorbike, bicycle) and WALK / RUN at any time. The dashboard layout adapts automatically — pace and cadence appear only in Walk/Run mode.
  • Units: Toggle between Metric (KM/H · KM · M · MIN/KM) and Imperial (MPH · MI · FT · MIN/MI). The change takes effect immediately across all live values and history charts.
  • Altitude Offset: Fine-tune the global altitude correction applied to all readings.
  • Delta Smoothing: Adjust how aggressively the Live Delta bar averages out GPS noise for a steadier comparison reading.
  • Security First: Protect your exported backups with a password so your records stay private even when shared.

Record & Review

  • Active Mode: Hit START LOGGING and let the app handle the rest while you focus on the road or trail.
  • Review Mode: After you stop, dive into high-detail maps, altitude profiles, and speed charts. Adjust the altitude offset post-ride if needed and all stats update live.
  • History: Your entire journey log is saved locally. Replay any session anytime, set it as a Live Delta reference, or export it.
